Abstract Our aim in this paper is to employ conceptual negotiation inform a method of rethinking defective food concepts, that concepts fail suitably represent certain food-related domain or offer representations run counter the interests their users. We begin by sorting out four dimensions concept: (i) data upon which it rests and methodology those are gathered; (ii) ontology sustains it; (iii) social acts serve negotiate establish concept; (iv) aims values fosters. then discuss conditions make concept defective, pointing types defects—fragility, polarization, incoherence, schizophrenia—which we illustrate means two specific examples: local healthy food.
